Habitat Conservation Plans
(HCP) are developed when a private landowner is seeking an Incidental Take
Permit under Section 10 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). An HCP is considered
for our clients if they conduct activities that result in the incidental take
of a species listed as threatened or endangered. This allows the landowner to
proceed with land use activities (with mitigation efforts) that would normally
result in the take of listed species, resulting in fines and litigation.
Candidate Conservation Plans can also be used prior to the listing of a
species as threatened or endangered. Building a strong analysis team with
all of our diverse and experienced staff and associates will ease these
often-burdensome Endangered Species Act assessments.
